Technology is Taking Over

Before I actually got followers I used to rant about things in my posts. I haven't done that in awhile. Usually something bothers me but by the time I want to write about it my feelings have change and I'm not pissed off anymore. Well something has bee irritating me for awhile now and it's just getting worse.

PEOPLE ARE TOO ATTACHED TO THEIR CELL PHONES!!

First I will admit that I do have a cell phone. I text a lot at home, I use it to check email and browse the Internet when I need too. I don't use it that much when I'm out and about. With that said, I have to say that texting has gotten way out of control. People can't put down their cell phones for one minute to do something. I will present you will some situations that bothered me.

!) People using their cell phones at the beach. Do we really need our phones at the beach? People can't enjoy the sun, sand and water without communicating it to everyone else? If you are going to the beach to talk or text on your cell the whole time, just stay home.

2) Students on their phones all through class. I'll admit that if I get bored in class I will text a little bit but it's the students that are engrossed in their phone and aren't paying attention to the professor at all. In my computer class the professor is lecturing and writing stuff on the board that will be on our next test. A lot of students in class are on Facebook on the computer and aren't writing down any notes. The girl next to me this past week was on Facebook the whole class. Why even come to class? Technology is taking over people's lives.

3) People at the gym with their cell phones. On the treadmill texting or using the leg press while texting. How about you leave the fucking phone in the car for an hour and actually workout. Are these people that important that they need their phone right by the side wherever they go? Same deal with kids in my gym class at school. After each exercise they have to check their phone and text somebody. I really hope that these kids get bad grades, they deserve that.

4) This one really boggled my mind and the guys are probably going to understand more than the women. I was in the bathroom relieving myself at the urinal when a guy comes in and is holding his manhood in one hand to pee and texting with the other hand. Seriously, this guy couldn't wait the 2 minutes to pee? It was so important to be on the phone while taking a piss? I'll admit that on occasion when I know I'm going to be in there awhile I will text while going number 2. When there isn't a magazine that's how I pass the time but never have I texted at the urinal.

5) This last one really irritated me. I was at a wake and during the pastor's sermon a woman in her 30's was texting next to me. Do people have no respect at all these days. To text at a wake, that is just wrong. It gets me thinking, there better not be anybody on their phone at my wedding ceremony. I will kick some disrespectful ass.

There is an exception with the phone usage. If people are using it for business then I can understand why they are on it so much. It's the people that use it for personal use that bug the hell out of me. And don't even get me started on people that text and drive. I hope that they get whats coming to them.

Do you hate people overusing their phones? Do you have a little story that you would like to share? I want to hear your stories in a comment.

Right Turn Clyde

It has been awhile since I did any sort of crazy rant. Most of my rantings have been about driving and this one isn't any different. Why do people suck at driving? This is the question I pose at you.

Is it because I live in New York and there are more assholish drivers here? Why do people feel the need to ride my ass on some back road where the speed limit is 30 and I'm going 35? Nobody has any patience anymore. Where is every one headed in such a god damn hurry?

And for Pete's sake people, learn how to use a friggin' turn signal. Is it really that hard to flip a bar up or down? Is humanity this lazy or was nobody properly taught how to operate a motor vehicle with respect to others? If you are making a left turn, signaling 1.3 seconds before you do it is not enough time.

I wrote this in another post but there should be a law that requires you to retake your driver's test every 5-10 years or so to cut down on the amount of assholes out there.

It is getting to become a rarity that I come across courteous drivers. People are getting more and more selfish and inconsiderate of every one else. Did we not learn the Golden Rule in elementary school? This rule applies to every aspect of our lives.

Is this just me or does every state have this many dumbass drivers? Speak to me my fellow bloggers (I find it funny that Blogger underlines 'bloggers' as not being a word).

Got Milk?

It has been brought to my attention that I might not be doing enough "reviews you can't use" here at 'Just the Cheese.' The reason being I don't watch as many movies as I use to. I haven't been going to the movies as much and I put my Netflix on hold for awhile. I have kind of lost that urge to watch movies for some odd reason. That needs to change, movies are my biggest hobby. My second hobby is watching Seinfeld reruns and that gets old. Luckily for you I actually watched a movie the other night so naturally I thought I would review it or something to that effect.

I rented 'Milk' from the library last week but didn't watch it until Friday night. You can't go wrong with a free movie rental from the ol' public library, they have a lot of new selections there too.

If you are not familiar with this film, it is about the first openly gay man elected to office back in the 1970's. Harvey Milk is played by the talented Mr. Sean Penn, supported by James Franco (one of his lovers.)

The movie is a true story about his political life and what he does while he is in office. It got my feathers all ruffled. People can be so damn small-minded and ignorant. There was a politician back then that was trying to pass a law/bill to fire all gay teachers and anyone in the school system that supported them. Their argument was that these teachers were trying to recruit the kids into being gay, that since they couldn't have a family of their own that they would pass along their homosexuality to the kids. They also said that all gay teachers were child molesters and pedophiles. This just really pissed me off. I hate people that think this way. You can't teach someone how to be gay, you are born with it. You don't just one day decide to be gay.

Harvey Milk runs for office about 5 times before he wins a supervisor position and from that point on makes a huge difference. He really fought for gay rights. Ironically enough he lived and held office in San Francisco. The movie makes me want to go into politics to fight the power and I know nothing about politics. I was actually surprised that an openly gay man was elected to office back in the '70s. It seems like it wouldn't be accepted by enough people, I mean it took us 'til 2008/2009 to elect a black president. I wonder what the chances are of ever having a gay president? Is that possible or are there too many small-minded people in this country?

'Milk' is a good movie, a little slow to get going but definitely inspiring and enlightening. There are a few romantic scenes with Sean Penn and a few male actors just to warn you if that's not your cup-of-tea. That must be hard as an actor to have an intimate scene with someone of the same sex. They have to make it look real and convincing. I don't know if I could kiss another dude if I was an actor. Odd thing to think about, huh? I recommend seeing 'Milk,' it was an eye-opener to say the least.

Shit Happens

I should of wrote this post on Monday but it's not time sensitive so I don't care that much. The reason I say this is because something happened over last weekend that should of sparked this post right away. I'll show you some pics first and you can imagine what could of happened.....

So my fiance Nicole and I were driving up to see my buddy Jon in Syracuse last Friday. We were about 75 miles away from his house on the Thruway around 6 o'clock with a decent amount of traffic around us. When out of nowhere there were 3 deer just chilling in the road like someone just dropped them off there. We were going 65 mph in the right lane so there wasn't much time to stop. We slammed on the brakes and swerved left (which in retrospect was probably a bad idea if there had been another car in the left lane.) Obviously we hit one of the damn things, we clipped it's ass and it did about $2000 worth of damage to Nicole's CR-V. I don't know what happened to the deer. He's probably in a wheel chair now with a broken coccyx (tail bone) and dislocated legs. I hope Bambi's cousin has health insurance.
I have no idea how we ended up hitting Bambi's cousin seeing how there were cars behind and in front of us and we were in the right lane. These deer were walking from the left side of the road and somehow maneuvered through traffic right in front of us. I think some guy with a tractor trailer is dropping off deer on the highway at random points, dude if you are reading this, you are an ASSHOLE!! The only good news is that the car was still drivable minus a headlight and part of the bumper.
A trooper stopped to help us and he was definitely related to Barney Fife and Gomer Pyle. He was dumb and didn't know what to do. He asked us if we wanted a police report. We asked him if we needed one and he said that he didn't know. What a jackass!
The kicker is we had just come from Mavis for 4 new tires and an alignment and now the car is going to be in the body shop for almost a month. Luckily there is collision on the car and Nicole gets to drive a 2009 Camry rental. That car is a smooth ride.
Deer are unavoidable, you are better off gunning for them and fucking them up as much as possible for being in your way. I have hit 3 in my life with 3 different vehicles. I'm going for the record. Anyone hit more than me?

Sidewalk Etiquette

Society needs to adopt the laws of the sidewalk. People should learn some sidewalk etiquette. Here in America not only do we drive on the right side of the road but we also walk on the right side in general. I'm tired of walking at the mall or in an amusement park on the correct side and have people walking on the same side directly into me. They never move out of the way either. They end up bumping into you or you have to quickly go around them.

What I hate more is groups of people walking side by side with each other taking up the whole walkway. It's like they are the kick return wedge in a football game and I'm the kicker.

This happened to me last night at school when I was walking on the sidewalk along side of school. A mother and her 2 kids were walking towards me taking up the whole sidewalk, they didn't even move and I was forced onto the grass. Damn people have no respect these days.

If you find yourself in one of these situations, you have my permission to tackle somebody.

Cutting hurts everyone

For some reason a cut version of Paranormal Activity has been released and is playing instead of the original. The cut version is missing a lot of scenes and it is way too short. I'm hearing from people that the cut version sucks. Why the hell would they do this? The movie was fine the way it was. Was it too scary? Were people actually shitting their pants? This is an outrage!! Well actually I don't care as much because I already saw the movie but it blows for everybody else that had their little heart set on seeing it. Try to find a theater that is still showing the original otherwise wait for a bootleg copy to fall into your hands.

Shallow Pockets

This semester I didn't have any money for books so I had to cash in a government bond that I've had since 1985. Damn crooks, jacking up the prices of textbooks that only change by a page every year. They need to be stopped!! If only we had real live superheroes........................or do we?

To the bat cave!!

NASCAR Beef

So I got some beef with the National Association for Stock Car Auto Racing. It is the biggest waste of our natural resources and a huge pollutant to our environment. Have you ever wondered how much gas they use in Nascar? I don't know the actual number but it's probably a ridiculously absurd amount. I'm sure they are using a high octane gas too and not the cheap stuff. Also they go through like hundreds of tires during each race and tires are made up of oil.

Now aren't we as a country trying to help our environment by making and driving economic and hybrid vehicles? How the hell is Nascar helping with our oil problems? We don't have enough oil to last us in our lifetime but we can waste it on driving in a circle for 500 miles!?!

I don't even get Nascar anyway. How is it fun to watch cars make left turns for like 3 hours? Most people watch it hoping for a crash anyway. I have watched some Nascar in my lifetime and I was not entertained. I will give credit to the drivers though, it probably takes a lot of skill driving inches away from 20 other cars going 200 mph. Maybe I need to be a redneck or have my own ambulance in order to understand and enjoy it.

Of course the government isn't going to get break up Nascar because they make way too much money off of it. Just like fucking cigarettes but that's another post in of itself.

No Respect!!

Damn people don’t have any respect nowadays. Nicole and I saw Halloween II on Friday night and apparently a lot of other people attended the theater just to piss me off. I don’t know about the rest of you but I go to the movies to actually see the movie not to fucking talk and joke around the whole time. I can understand whispering something to the person next to you because I do that on occasion but having a loud conversation is just plain rude.

There was a bunch of people hootin’ and hollerin’ during the movie like they were at a Slipknot concert. They were laughing hysterically at parts of the movie, it was a horror not a comedy, there wasn’t anything funny about it. I don’t understand why someone would pay $10 to ruin someone else’s night and not pay attention to the movie. A lot of them just kept getting up in groups and leaving and coming back for no reason. It’s always a group of freakin’ crackheads that don’t have anything better to do than act like a bunch of morons. If you are one of these people stop going to the movies and stay the fuck home or else next time I’m going to stab you in the face.
