Get off the phone!!

I haven't ranted in awhile and I do love some good old fashioned ranting like my great grandma used to do. Okay, I have no idea if my great grandma ranted a lot, I might be lying, please don't hold me to it. Most of my rants are about how annoying or frustrating people are, especially while driving but this rant isn't about driving. I could rant everyday on people's inability to drive. Don't get me started.

I think technology has taken over our lives. I think cell phones especially have taken control of people. I have to admit that I am addicted to my cell phone from time to time, mostly playing word games. What bothers the crap out of me is when people walk and use their cell phones, whether it be texting or playing a game, talking on their cell and walking doesn't bother me as much. People who text and walk should be beaten with a pillow case full of bars of soap. Either these idiots walk to slow or have no idea where they are walking. How about you pull over to the edge of the sidewalk or walkway and do whatever you need to do on your phone. I even saw people walking and texting in the rain, really people? You can't even be off your phone in the rain?
It is mostly on school campus that I run into this annoyance. Damn young people have no respect.

While I am on the subject of young college students, I would also like these kids to learn some sidewalk etiquette. It is sort of like driving a car, you are suppose to stay to the right (if you live in the U.S.). You don't walk on the left side and you don't walk with a group side to side taking up the whole damn walkway. I would really like to punch one of these kids in the face. Who taught these kids the rules anyway? I think I just hate large groups of people because somehow or another they always are in my way. I will have to invest in a Segway so I can run them over.

Meet 'N' Greet

About 2 weeks ago, Nicole and I went to a tasting at the venue where we are getting hitched. If you follow
"... and the pickles" you might of read what she wrote on it. She had covered mostly what food was there and how it tasted, it definitely made me hungry and wanting to go back for more grub. I am not writing this post to repeat what Nicole had written about. I am here to cover something that she did not talk about.

We were seated with two other couples at our dinner table. Paul & Vanessa were a couple in their late 20's that are getting married this October. Peter & Donna were the parents of a bride that was getting married in September. They were awesome people. We definitely had the 'funnest' table at the tasting. There were about 80-100 people there total. We all just clicked and were laughing the whole time. The food was delicious and all but it was these two couples that made my night. I love meeting people that you can just connect with right away. It turns out that we were at the same Bridal Show in February that Paul & Vanessa attended. In fact Vanessa had said that she recognized Nicole and Nicole said she recognized Paul. I think his name was Paul, I can't remember, it doesn't really matter now.

So the night was fantastic, we were the last table to leave and we exchanged hugs and handshakes. What sucks is that we will probably never see them again. We didn't get their last names and we didn't exchange numbers. The only thing I do know is that they are getting married October 21st of this year at the same venue we are, I know what town they live in and I know the name of the band that Paul is in. I just tried searching for his band's website and I can't find it. The best shot we have to see them again is crashing their wedding. I've had this happen a few times were I have met people or a person that I've liked but never see them again.

Has anything like this ever happen to you?

Technology is Taking Over

Before I actually got followers I used to rant about things in my posts. I haven't done that in awhile. Usually something bothers me but by the time I want to write about it my feelings have change and I'm not pissed off anymore. Well something has bee irritating me for awhile now and it's just getting worse.

PEOPLE ARE TOO ATTACHED TO THEIR CELL PHONES!!

First I will admit that I do have a cell phone. I text a lot at home, I use it to check email and browse the Internet when I need too. I don't use it that much when I'm out and about. With that said, I have to say that texting has gotten way out of control. People can't put down their cell phones for one minute to do something. I will present you will some situations that bothered me.

!) People using their cell phones at the beach. Do we really need our phones at the beach? People can't enjoy the sun, sand and water without communicating it to everyone else? If you are going to the beach to talk or text on your cell the whole time, just stay home.

2) Students on their phones all through class. I'll admit that if I get bored in class I will text a little bit but it's the students that are engrossed in their phone and aren't paying attention to the professor at all. In my computer class the professor is lecturing and writing stuff on the board that will be on our next test. A lot of students in class are on Facebook on the computer and aren't writing down any notes. The girl next to me this past week was on Facebook the whole class. Why even come to class? Technology is taking over people's lives.

3) People at the gym with their cell phones. On the treadmill texting or using the leg press while texting. How about you leave the fucking phone in the car for an hour and actually workout. Are these people that important that they need their phone right by the side wherever they go? Same deal with kids in my gym class at school. After each exercise they have to check their phone and text somebody. I really hope that these kids get bad grades, they deserve that.

4) This one really boggled my mind and the guys are probably going to understand more than the women. I was in the bathroom relieving myself at the urinal when a guy comes in and is holding his manhood in one hand to pee and texting with the other hand. Seriously, this guy couldn't wait the 2 minutes to pee? It was so important to be on the phone while taking a piss? I'll admit that on occasion when I know I'm going to be in there awhile I will text while going number 2. When there isn't a magazine that's how I pass the time but never have I texted at the urinal.

5) This last one really irritated me. I was at a wake and during the pastor's sermon a woman in her 30's was texting next to me. Do people have no respect at all these days. To text at a wake, that is just wrong. It gets me thinking, there better not be anybody on their phone at my wedding ceremony. I will kick some disrespectful ass.

There is an exception with the phone usage. If people are using it for business then I can understand why they are on it so much. It's the people that use it for personal use that bug the hell out of me. And don't even get me started on people that text and drive. I hope that they get whats coming to them.

Do you hate people overusing their phones? Do you have a little story that you would like to share? I want to hear your stories in a comment.

Bikinis vs Bras: The Mystery

I have been pondering something for awhile and I can never figure out the answer. Why is not socially acceptable for women to walk around in their bras and panties? Isn't wearing a bikini at the beach the same thing? I look at a bikini top and bottom being the equivalent of a bra and panties. I know the bikini top isn't for support but more for concealment and looks. Nobody really judges women's bathing suit attire but if a woman is wearing something revealing on the street she is looked at as slutty.

There is definitely a double standard going on here or something equivalent to that. I'm not sure if I'm using the double standard principle correctly here. Men are always trying to get a woman down to their bras and panties. Wouldn't it be less work just to go to the beach?

If a woman walked down the street in her bra and panties, you would think it was odd. But if she walked down the street in a bikini then it's perfectly acceptable. That just doesn't make sense in my head. Both attires are covering up the same parts.

People are half naked at the beach and it's normal. When a guy has his shirt off anywhere else it just seems kind of douchey and creepy. Society is strange. Am I wrong?

Don't forget to email me your movie game answers. If you haven't played yet go HERE.

I also guest posted for RawknRobyn @ Life by Chocolate. You can check that out HERE.

A Penguin Tale

As you may or may not know Nippy the Penguin from Crazy Penguin Ramblings was the victor of Trivia Corner Reboot. He possesses the most useless knowledge out of all of you. His prize is this post about him and his blog.

I actually have the pleasure of knowing Nippy (real name Jesse) outside the blogosphere. We have been working together for the past 2 1/2 years at the same establishment (the name of the place we work is being kept confidential to protect the innocent). The biggest thing we have in common is that we both have a thirst for movies. We both love movies. We were playing the movie game months before I posted it on my blog. We have added different variations to it at work.

If you have a love for video games, old and new then you should go visit his blog. He has fun video game theme challenges. He writes reviews on new games that he has played and old games that he misses. He also posts cool videos. He also rocks at the movie game. He doesn't just write about video games but I would say that's his main focus. He loves penguins and knows a lot about them. Who doesn't love penguins? I want one as a pet. I hear Wayne Newton has one, he keeps it in a special refrigerated room.

He is a small time blogger, not that what he writes about is small but that he is still just getting his feet wet. He doesn't post as much as the bigger blogs out there. He started blogging back in August of '09 then stopped for awhile and started back up again. I don't know what his plans are for the blogging future.

As Jesse he is a fierce contender when playing board games. He has beaten me in a few Scene-it games and I am waiting to extract my revenge on him. I did kick his butt in Madden football though and a few Wii sports games. We have recently been borrowing DVD's from each other. I normally am very anal about my DVD collection, I don't trust people but I trust Nippy. He needs to catch up on late 90's, early 2000's films while I need to catch up on the 80's classics.

He is a good man. I am glad to know him in my real life and also as a blogger buddy. He is currently my 4th string best man.

Trivia Corner will start up again on July 19th. I need to give your brains a rest.

Missed Connections

Have you ever wondered if the 'Missed Connections' on Craigslist ever get a response? Here are some real missed connections with responses that may or may not be real.

Neon at the hot dog stand. - m4w
I see you from time to time at the hot dog stand on __ near the 4 corners in _______. I hadn't seen you there in a few days and then saw you there again on Monday or Tuesday. I wish I had the nerve to stop and talk to you, but you seem to know the owner of the stand very well judging by how often you are there, and do not want to create an awkward moment if he is your significant other.. You drive a Neon and you have blond in your hair (I can't quite make out the other hair color). I just wanted to say I think you are very beautiful, and would love to get to know you. If you are the girl I am speaking of (which I hope you are), please do write me back and tell me what color your Neon is so I know it's you.

To creepy guy that probably has a hot dog fetish,
I have seen you staring at me from across the street. You're the guy wearing the Star Wars shirt holstering a red light saber. I wouldn't mind you looking at me every time I get a hot dog but the binoculars are a bit creepy. The owner of the stand is not my significant other, he is just my baby daddy and my half brother. I get free hot dogs, that is why I'm there so often. I am going to have to tell him to relocate his stand now. If I see you staring at me again I'm going to have to call my boyfriend/cousin to kick your ass.

I have watched you for a while - m4w
You are beautiful and brilliant. We spoke a few times but you are always in a hurry. I think you are older than i am but you don't look it. U drive a white beemer with special plates. Write back and tell me what your plate says.

To cute young guy,
My plate says ILVPSSY (I love pussy). Sorry if I led you on. What does your mom look like?

you: really short, blue shirt, awesome tits - m4w
you are a little tiny short girl. you had on a blue shirt that showed off your amazingly hot cleavage. we talked for a few minutes today and i was staring at your rack the whole time. would love to get a better look sometime, maybe we can take the blue shirt off so i can see them better. i have something you can see too ;-)
where were we? what did we talk about?

To fat guy with bad acne,
I don't remember us actually talking. You were talking to me while spitting your corn dog all over me. The only stayed there to wait in line. I know I have awesome tits, my husband tells me that all the time. I didn't have to look at your eyes to know you were staring at them, the roll of dimes in your pocket gave it away. I'm sure you would love to get a better look but that is never going to happen. I'd rather try to swim in a pool full of extra chunky peanut butter and possibly drown. And what do you have to show me besides your beer gut and 3 spare tires? Do you want to introduce me to your inflatable doll? Go in the woods and play hide and go fuck yourself.

Old Man, it's Amber - w4m
I saw you today.
I was driving on Route 9 and you had just gotten to work--same parking space, as always. You were standing next to the car, jeans and dress shoes, ready to start your day.
I miss you. I don't miss you--I miss having someone. I miss you.
All I do is think about you. I wish my brain would quiet down. Our time has come and gone.
onion rings and bacon and cream cheese

To desperate Amber,
How do you know what I had for lunch? Are you stalking me? You look 17, I'm 58. I am not a child molester. I am not going to fall for your trap so you can pretend to get raped and press charges. That may have worked for you sister but you are not going to trick me. And stop stealing my bacon!!

Tell me what you think. Maybe I will do this more often.

Better than the Oscars and Grammys

I received some awards from T.S. at The Non-Review last week. I love awards, they make me so warm and fuzzy inside. I wish they were tangible and I could put them on my mantle for my whole family to see, that would show them I'm talented. I'm not sure if there are rules to these awards but I will pass them on to some blogs nonetheless.

I want to award some blogs that I didn't last time I gave out awards (if I can remember). Here are the winners, maybe they are in some order and maybe they are not (I'm not telling).

1. Ally @ Tales of a Fourth Grade Nothing

2. Nippy the Penguin @ Crazy Penguin Ramblings

3. Pat @ Patrick Tillett

4. G. Older Man @ Older and Learning

5. Lisa Marie @ The Domestication of a Party Girl

6. Samantha @ Apple Juice and Milk

7. Darrin @ Dads Dish Retro Blog

8. Bendigo @ Bendigo's Rage

9. Geof @ Enter the Man-Cave

Congrats everybody, you are all awesome in your own distinctive way. You can take them both or take one. You can pass them along to others or just accept the award. Do what you wish.

Got Milk?

It has been brought to my attention that I might not be doing enough "reviews you can't use" here at 'Just the Cheese.' The reason being I don't watch as many movies as I use to. I haven't been going to the movies as much and I put my Netflix on hold for awhile. I have kind of lost that urge to watch movies for some odd reason. That needs to change, movies are my biggest hobby. My second hobby is watching Seinfeld reruns and that gets old. Luckily for you I actually watched a movie the other night so naturally I thought I would review it or something to that effect.

I rented 'Milk' from the library last week but didn't watch it until Friday night. You can't go wrong with a free movie rental from the ol' public library, they have a lot of new selections there too.

If you are not familiar with this film, it is about the first openly gay man elected to office back in the 1970's. Harvey Milk is played by the talented Mr. Sean Penn, supported by James Franco (one of his lovers.)

The movie is a true story about his political life and what he does while he is in office. It got my feathers all ruffled. People can be so damn small-minded and ignorant. There was a politician back then that was trying to pass a law/bill to fire all gay teachers and anyone in the school system that supported them. Their argument was that these teachers were trying to recruit the kids into being gay, that since they couldn't have a family of their own that they would pass along their homosexuality to the kids. They also said that all gay teachers were child molesters and pedophiles. This just really pissed me off. I hate people that think this way. You can't teach someone how to be gay, you are born with it. You don't just one day decide to be gay.

Harvey Milk runs for office about 5 times before he wins a supervisor position and from that point on makes a huge difference. He really fought for gay rights. Ironically enough he lived and held office in San Francisco. The movie makes me want to go into politics to fight the power and I know nothing about politics. I was actually surprised that an openly gay man was elected to office back in the '70s. It seems like it wouldn't be accepted by enough people, I mean it took us 'til 2008/2009 to elect a black president. I wonder what the chances are of ever having a gay president? Is that possible or are there too many small-minded people in this country?

'Milk' is a good movie, a little slow to get going but definitely inspiring and enlightening. There are a few romantic scenes with Sean Penn and a few male actors just to warn you if that's not your cup-of-tea. That must be hard as an actor to have an intimate scene with someone of the same sex. They have to make it look real and convincing. I don't know if I could kiss another dude if I was an actor. Odd thing to think about, huh? I recommend seeing 'Milk,' it was an eye-opener to say the least.

AT&T versus Verizon

I have lost some respect for Luke Wilson. You are probably wondering what did he do? Well it's the new AT&T commercials that he has been doing lately. He states that AT&T has more coverage than Verizon, I beg to differ Luke. I have Verizon and I very rarely drop a call or don't have service somewhere.

That's the main reason for this post. In one of the commercials he talks about AT&T cell phone users being able to talk on the phone and surf the web at the same time and that Verizon doesn't have this feature. Why would you need to talk on the phone and go on the Internet with the same phone? Who is using this feature? The only time I would see this coming in handy is if you are talking about going to the movies or something and you need the show times. Do people really multitask this much and have that much ADD?

Is that the only thing that AT&T has over Verizon, a phone that lets you update your Facebook status while you are talking to your BFF? If I see someone using this feature on their phone I'm going to punch them in the kidney and throw their phone into traffic. Some technology we do not need. Stop pushing this on people Luke Wilson.

Want a free burial?

First off I just have to say WTF!! You will probably share the same feelings after you are done reading. There is a funeral home in Rome, Georgia offering a free burial to anyone that drinks and drives on New Year's and dies in doing so.

Apparently they are trying to raise awareness on the subject of drinking and driving but in the most unethical and fucked up way. First off to get the free burial you have to sign a contract that states that you promise to drink and drive during the holiday. Who is going to sign this dumb ass contract? It's probably some sort of sting operation and you will get arrested for conspiracy to commit drinking and driving or some crazy charge.

Now what if there are other victims in the drinking and driving accidents, are they covered under this contract? This doesn't seem like it should be legal. There is definitely some kind of law being broken here but it's in the south so probably not. If you can own a slave then you can do anything. I think George W. had something to do with this scheme. What is happening to this country?

How about you just do the old fashioned thing and have a designated driver or just sleep wherever you are going to be that night. Don't be that moron that thinks they can still drive perfect when they are drunk. Most of the idiots on the road can't even drive when they are sober. Let's be safe out there folks.

Pet Peeves

I have come to realize that I dislike and am annoyed by the general population. The things people do and say really irritate me. For example: more and more people are driving way too slow, especially on the parkway. If the speed limit is 55, don't go 40 you freakin' jackass! Even more annoying are the people that like to make their turns at 2 mph like they have premature babies on top of their car and they are being extra cautious. Please learn how to drive people or I'm going to have to go Tonya Harding on your ass.

My pet peeve isn't just slow drivers, it's also slow people. No, I'm not talking about mentally challenged people, that's cruel and I'm not Satan. I'm talking about people that don't understand what you are saying after you have explained it 10 times over and are just plain dumb. Those people are very annoying and ask the dumbest questions. Talking to them makes you want to give yourself a frontal lobotomy with a rusty butter knife.

Am I too cynical? Am I the only person that feels this way? I feel the general population is getting dumber and relying too much on technology to help them out. Maybe it's because I view myself as an intelligent person and look down on the morons. I recently took an IQ test and scored a 142. It says that I am border-line genius. Einstein (I think, don't quote me on this) only had an IQ of 178. I feel I am destined for great things, I have no idea what those great things are just that I am destined for them. Okay I'm starting to ramble and that's my cue to go invent something awesome.

So stop driving so slow and stop being a moron. Good day.

Saved by the Nip/Tuck

Any Nip/Tuck fans out there? I love the show. It's packed with crazy freakin' shit. If you do watch it then you will know what I'm talking about in this post and if you don't watch it well go rent the first season right now but you will still find what I have to say interesting.

Starting this season Mario Lopez (from my childhood show Saved by the Bell) has joined the cast of plastic surgeons. If I was a girl, I'd do him.... hahaha. Anyway last week's episode starred an actress who looked familiar and was named Jenny Juggs because her boobs were size G!! She used her breasts to knock people out and break shit, like a pumpkin and a phone. After watching this chesty woman through half an episode I realized who it was, Jenny Juggs was Kiersten Warren who played Alex on Saved by the Bell: The College Years.

Mario and Kiersten reunited after 16 years. I kind of liked The College Years, not as good as the original but still had it's moments. The series only lasted '93-'94.
Now out of the original show I have seen the other actors and actresses in other films and tv shows in the past decade.

Mark Paul Gosselaar is on that show Raising the Bar. Tiffani-Amber Thiessen had her run on Beverly Hills 90210 and Just Shoot Me. Elizabeth Berkley was in Showgirls and had a small part in S. Darko (the Donnie Darko sequel, it sucked.) Lark Voorhies was in Def Jam's how to be a player and I know I've seen her in a few other things but can't remember. Mario Lopez has done the talk show thing and was Greg Louganis in that documentary. Now Dustin Diamond is kind of the one that fell off the map. I believe he was in the David Spade film, Dickie Roberts but other than that he has been under the radar.

Holy shit!! I totally forgot about Saved by the Bell: The New Class. I don't think I really watched that one. I looked it up on IMDB, it ran for 7 seasons and got a rating of 3.7!! Dustin Diamond was on that show with Dennis Haskins (Mr. Belding) as the Dean's assistant or something. I also didn't realize that the original Saved by the Bell was only on for 4 years ('89-'93,) then came college. I thought it was on longer. Didn't they start in Jr. high and then high school? What happened to the other kids that didn't stay in the show in Miss Bliss' class? Ah the good old days with Saved by the Bell.....

Postgame Thoughts

Even though the Giants lost, I had a lot of fun at my first NFL football game yesterday. The Giants are playing better but still not up to snuff. Too many penalties and poor red zone offense. Once they get these problems under control they will make a come back and retake first place in the NFC East. Their bye comes at a crucial time, they need to go back and work on the basics. I could talk for hours on this subject but I had a different agenda for this post.

I have come to the conclusion that a lot of people go to sporting events for the concession stand. Way too many people getting up all the time to stuff their faces.........sit down and watch the damn game!!! I had to pee once I sat down 10 minutes before the game started and I didn't go to the bathroom until the middle of the 3rd quarter, I didn't want to miss anything. If you're spending $100 for a seat you might as well get your money's worth.

There was a couple next to us at the game that got up and left randomly for like 10-30 minutes at a time, where did they go and what the hell where they doing? People in general bother the shit out of me, I don't understand why people do what they do. Is it just me or do people's actions bother you too?

Sidewalk Etiquette

Society needs to adopt the laws of the sidewalk. People should learn some sidewalk etiquette. Here in America not only do we drive on the right side of the road but we also walk on the right side in general. I'm tired of walking at the mall or in an amusement park on the correct side and have people walking on the same side directly into me. They never move out of the way either. They end up bumping into you or you have to quickly go around them.

What I hate more is groups of people walking side by side with each other taking up the whole walkway. It's like they are the kick return wedge in a football game and I'm the kicker.

This happened to me last night at school when I was walking on the sidewalk along side of school. A mother and her 2 kids were walking towards me taking up the whole sidewalk, they didn't even move and I was forced onto the grass. Damn people have no respect these days.

If you find yourself in one of these situations, you have my permission to tackle somebody.

Fancy Toilet

For some reason I was watching The Tyra Show and some woman was on talking about the new innovations in toilets. What could they add to a toilet that it doesn't already have, internet access? Well apparently there are some high tech toilets out there that make your porcelain bowl look like a shit bucket. In Japan they care a lot about their toilets. This woman from Toto Toilets was demonstrating the features of this high tech toilet. It had a motion sensor seat, night light and was even heated for those cold winter nights. To operate this bad boy there was a giant control panel that I guess would be installed on your wall. A control panel, really, for a toilet?

That's not all folks. Now the next feature is mostly for the ladies however it could work for guys. After you are done doing your business, with a push of a button a spraying wand comes out from under you to clean your private areas. Then after that a blow dryer to dry you off, no more wasting time with toilet paper.

Are we getting that lazy and spoiled as a society that we need fully automated toilets? Don't get me wrong I thought it was pretty cool but get this, it comes with a $5200 price tag. I'll spend 2 or 3 grand on a t.v. but not 5 grand on something that I shit in. Other features included music and sounds for more privacy to cover up when you're dropping a deuce.

I understand the concept, it's more sanitary because you are not actually touching the toilet with your hands and it's more convenient. I don't know about you but the toilet is the last thing I'm worrying about in my house. As long as it flushes, I'm good, if not I'm taking my business in the woods.

Don't @%&$ with Veterans

Now normally I don't blog about current events unless I'm involved in them but I heard something on the radio and I thought it was amusing.

A 21 year old dude went down to his local bar for a drink where a lot of the war veterans hang but forgot his ID. The bartender refused to serve him without identification which really pissed off this guy. As some sort of moronic revenge the man cut down the American flag from the VFW flagpole and set it ablaze.
The veterans in the bar at the time were not pleased at all. The veterans tracked this man down a few days later at a soccer game, confronted him and gave him three options: 1) They could turn him into the proper authorities, 2) Kick the crap out of him or 3) Duct tape him to a flagpole for 6 hours and hang a sign from his neck stating his crime. He decided on option number 3. After he served his punishment, the local VFW post commander said that he would never disrespect the flag again.

What a jackass!! I'm not really that patriotic and I would run off to Canada if there was a draft but I would never disgrace the American flag especially near the VFW hall. It would of been more embarrassing if he was taped tot he pole naked or in his briefs. It goes to show you how dumb the average person actually is.

Guest Writer Plug

As you may probably already know I had a guest writer recently that wrote a review about G.I. Joe. I have yet to see the movie but I'll take his word on what he had to say. He was a little tardy on getting the review to me but he was working for free so I won't hold it against him. He currently has his own blog now, I guess this craze is really catching on. His new blog is called Crazy Penguin Ramblings and you can check it out at http://crazypenguinramblings.blogspot.com/. You can also find him in the author section of my blog as Nippy the Penguin. He is just getting his flippers wet so he only has a few posts but he is on to something already.
