Female Dirty Dozen

I promised that I would make my dirty dozen of actresses after I did my dirty dozen of actors. This list was a lot harder to make because it's hard to think of actresses. They don't have as many leading roles as men. Also I am trying not to let their looks affect my decision making. Then it got harder because I thought of more than 12 so I will have to narrow the list down. The actresses are in no particular order. putting them in order would take me forever. I added a few of my favorite flicks and some tv shows with them.

Helen Hunt - I haven't seen her in a lot of movies but I loved her in As Good As it Gets and Twister. She was pretty good on the show Mad About You, plus her name was Jamie on that show.

Kathy Bates - She is a very versatile actress, She can be serious and funny. She was great in A Home of Our Own, Misery and The Waterboy.

Meryl Streep - I would say she is my favorite actress. I love her in anything she does and she's still sexy at 61. She looked pretty good in It's Complicated. My favorite film with her is Adaptation.

Sandra Bullock - How can you not like her? She was terrific in The Blind Side, go see it if you haven't yet. I always think of Speed first when I hear her name.

Drew Barrymore - The movies she's in aren't great but she usually is. The Wedding Singer and 50 First Dates come to mind Charlie's Angels wasn't all that great but she kicked ass. I can't mention her without mentioning E.T. (There I mentioned it).

Frances Mcdormand - You may not know who she is, she's not a big name actress. She was the female cop in Fargo and the mom in Almost Famous. She is talented and I don't think gets enough credit.

Julia Roberts - I don't really have to mention any movies because she is one of those names that everybody knows but I still will name a few. My favorites are Erin Brokovich, The Mexican, Closer and Stepmom.

Angelina Jolie - I really liked her in Changeling. Her character was totally different than what she usually plays.

Diane Lane - She is another actress I haven't see much in but she is very talented. A few flicks that come to mind are Nights in Rodanthe, Unfaithful and Murder at 1600.

Famke Janssen - I liked her as Jean Grey in the X-men movies, as Petra in Rounders and Ava in the tv series Nip/Tuck.

Cameron Diaz - She is quite the spunky actress, a real spark plug. I really liked her in Vanilla Sky, There's Something About Mary and Shrek.

Rene Russo
- Get Shorty, Lethal Weapon 4, Tin Cup and Outbreak.

Damn that was tough to make. I know I am probably leaving out some major actresses that I can't think of. Hopefully some of you will tell me who I missed. Next I'm going to reveal my dirty dozen of directors. Don't forget to vote on the 2nd round of the battle of the cereal mascots, click HERE, you only have until Sunday at 11:59 pm.

You are right, this is a hard list to put together. you put a good list together, and I totally agree about Meryl Streep. There isn't anything she can't do...

Very good, PTM. You called this one right, I think, though I can't stand Angelina. She probably has some real acting skills. I won't see her movies, because I think she's freaky. I agree with Mar and Pat, too, about Meryl. I think she's the greatest of all time. Oh, and I liked Sandra in Speed too.

PS Sorry, I have more to say (as usual), I met an actress who was in Adaptation -in a car crash scene. She said it was a weird movie, so I never saw it.

Oh man, I was so with you on the men. The women, not so much. Except for Dianne Lane.

I can not STAND Sandra Bullock. Oh, she is the worst! Sorry man, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one.

I give you Meryl, Sandra, Rene, Frances, and Diane - excellent choices, my friend. Personally I'm not a huge fan of Diaz and Roberts but that's only two out of many great selections.

Diane Lane is awesome. She makes Must Love Dogs a reasonable movie, along with John Cusack, against all odds.

I'm with you on every entry to this list, except Diane Lane. I watched her in Unfaithful, and for some reason it really irked my shit. Can't stand her in a movie now. Would add Chloe Grace Moretz, whose performance in Kick Ass was SO FREAKING AMAZING!!!! She was also awesome in Diary of a Wimpy Kid and 500 Days of Summer. =) I also ADORE Amy Adams (Miss Pettigrew Lives For A Day is one of the best movies I've ever seen, seriously!!), and that one has the added bonus of one of YOUR faves -- Ms. McDormand. =) Dammit, now I'm coming up with all kinds of names....LOL Mind if I borrow this concept?
