A Post about Something

I normally don't talk about my real life on this blog because that is not what this blog is about. However I like to keep those who care updated on the good stuff. I also find random humor that I make up off the top of my head more humorous than my actual life.

Last semester was my first full time semester at school. I had little free time. I worked and did homework when I wasn't at at school. I also had to squeeze in some quality time with Nicole. Let's just say it was a busy four months. Well somehow I managed to pull out five A's. My grandma thinks I am a genius, she may be on to something. I am a bit of an over achiever now than compared to what I was like in high school. That can be summed up in one word; lazy. I had a month off before this current semester started. I have no idea where it went. First it was Christmas and then I was starting classes again. I have no idea what I did in the past 4-5 weeks. I plan to get straight A's again this semester. I'm pretty sure teachers accept bribes nowadays if I don't get the grades I want.

In other news there has been some progress on the wedding front. Last week on Wednesday the 19th between the hours of 5 pm and 6pm, Nicole and I booked our DJ, photographer and videographer. We have no money so we had to sign over our future 2nd born, my kidney, her engagement ring, and half of my DVD collection. It was either sign those things over or Nicole have sex with the guy. I had no problem going with option 'B' but Nicole apparently had the final say.
So far we have our wedding date (October 20, 2012), our venue and our entertainment/photography. I also have her wedding ring. It came with her engagement ring as a matching set. She still needs to get my ring. The one I want has a laser pointer on it. I know I'm fancy like that.
We are going to a bridal show at our venue on Super Bowl Sunday. Don't worry guys, it's from 12-5 so I won't miss any of the game. I'm not a complete fool. I'm going to support Nicole and for all the delicious food. Should be exciting.

In other news I love cheese.

There is a duck in there somewhere

A week and a half ago on November 5th was our 3 year anniversary (Nicole and I). It also marked our one year anniversary of being engaged. The past year has just flown by. It feels like I just proposed the other day. I knew that if I didn't plan something special that I would be in trouble. Since we don't live together yet it is difficult to plan a romantic evening. I also didn't want to go to any ol' restaurant that we have been do 38 times already. I chose a restaurant that we have only been to once before (for my birthday last year, I would of blogged about this restaurant then but I didn't start my blog until after my birthday). I made reservations at The Melting Pot. It's a dining establishment where you get to cook your own lobster at your table. No, no, no, that sounds barbaric. It is actually a fondue place.

Last year there were 8 of us with only 2 fondue pots at the table so it seemed a little crowded. I figured it would make for a better experience if it was just the two of us (cue "Just the Two of Us" by Dr. Evil). And like most of the time, I was right. They seated us at Lover's Row which was a little booth with a table and ell shaped seating where you are forced with cuddle with your partner. It was very romantic. The lights were dimmed in that section and there was a single candle on the table with an anniversary card from the restaurant signed by the staff. Nice touch Melting Pot, way to earn your tips.

I'm not going to lie, the menu is a bit pricey but it's not one of those places you would go all the time anyway. We went all out and got the four course meal, cheese fondue, salads, main course and chocolate fondue. We chose the cheddar fondue with had some Swiss and other spices. That was served with apples, bread and veggies for dipping. Boy do I love me some cheese. The salads were very flavorful and delicious. For our main course fondue we had a Caribbean style oil. Nicole got the filet mignon while I chose an assortment of meat. My dish came with pork, chicken, shrimp, teriyaki steak, duck and pot stickers. The meat is served raw and your job is to throw it on a fondue fork and cook it the way you want it. Cooking time is very minimal, only need 2 minutes per slice of meat. Accompanying our dishes were more veggies (potatoes, mushrooms, broccoli, asparagus and peppers) and 5 dipping sauces (curry, ginger, teriyaki, cream cheese and some other white one).

With it only being the two of us it was a lot less crowded in the fondue pot and cooking time was quick. When it was the 8 of us last year it took forever to cook our food. I wasn't too thrilled with the duck, it had a ginger glaze and I'm not a big fan of ginger. However the teriyaki steak was delicious, I wish I had more of that. We were both pretty much full after our main course but we had to make a little room for dessert. How often do we get to eat chocolate fondue? We chose the flaming turtle which is milk chocolate, caramel and chopped pecans which was flambeed right in front of us. It was a pretty cool sight and I wish I had a picture to show you but Nicole was too slow with the camera.

For dippers we had strawberries, marshmallows coated in chocolate, cheesecake, brownies, bananas and sesame chicken....... there was no chicken (just seeing if you are still paying attention). More chocolate fondue please!!! We should of started with that. We had a tough time deciding on what chocolate fondue to get. There are so many tasty looking choices.

I recommend The Melting Pot for 2 to 4 people, any more and it seems a bit crowded. It's perfect for two people. It is definitely a different dining experience. Getting to cook your food at your table is fun and it leaves a lot of room for talking. The night doesn't go by so fast. Oh I forgot one of the best things I had. Order up a Love Martini, it is so yummy. It might be a girly drink but I don't care. It has peach schnapps, coconut rum, cranberry juice and fresh strawberries. Our bill came to about $125 including tip. At least try it once and see what you think, it may not be for everybody.

We also did something the next day for our anniversary which I will save for another post cuz this one is way too long already. I also have to talk about our anniversary presents next time. Could it be a real live pony or a banjo perhaps?

Only 800 Days 'til the Big Day

It has come to my attention that I haven't written about Nicole in awhile. Actually, Nicole brought it to my attention (several times). To be honest, she doesn't like that I blog, she thinks it's a waste of time. I can understand that coming from an outsider that doesn't understand the great blogosphere and the people that inhabit it. Now don't judge her, she is just looking out for my best interest. To compensate for her basically hating blogging, I write nice things about her and us to make her happy. And that's all that really matters right, making the little lady happy? I don't force any posts, I write from the heart.

I haven't talked about wedding stuff in awhile since we booked our venue because there hasn't been much to update. Well there was one eventful thing that happened a little after we found our place to wed. Now what I am about to tell you is top secret (I understand posting something top secret on the Internet isn't a brilliant idea but who are you to judge?). Don't tell Nicole's grandma what I am about to tell you, she might get upset and she is Italian and has threatened me before.

Nicole values my opinion about her appearance so naturally she wanted me to go dress browsing with her. She wants to look her best for me (which should be no problem cuz she does it already) so she would like to know what designs I fancy. We took a trip to David's Bridal to try on some dresses. Let me rephrase that, we went to David's Bridal so Nicole could try on some dresses. I prefer to cross dress privately so no one judges me. I look best in a backless dress with a 3 inch heel, but that's a story for another post.

Nicole makes it easy for the lady working there by bringing in pictures of the dresses she wants to try on. At this point I am both excited and anxious. I want to see her all dressed up in a wedding dress but I also know that the groom isn't suppose to see the bride in her dress before the actual ceremony. The lady working there, let's call her Rita, told us that most brides-to-be try on many dresses and they never tell the grooms-to-be which one they would pick. So even though I will see Nicole in wedding dresses, chances are I won't know which one she picks (if any from the selection) or remember them in general.

The first dress she tried on looked absolutely stunning on her. It gave her a nice shape, accented her features and had what she was looking for in a dress. I remember her looking beautiful in it but I can't remember what the dress actually looked like. I guess Rita was right. I know it had a corset-looking back with crossing straps, it was strapless and had some bling to it. It also perked up her boobies. Yay for boobies!! Sorry I lost my concentration. Where was I?

I liked most of the dresses she tried on. Some weren't my cup of tea but she didn't really like those ones either so it was all good. I got really excited seeing her in wedding dresses. If she looked great in an untailored, unfitted dress I can just imagine what she will look like walking down the aisle. She is going to look fabulous. I'm getting butterflies in my stomach just thinking about it. I am going to need tissues in my pockets cuz my palms are going to be all sweaty. I want to see her in more dresses but it's probably better than I only go the one time, I don't want to spoil anything.

The new gardens at Anthony's Pier Nine (our wedding venue) are either finished or are almost finished. I can't wait to see how they turn out. I won't even notice them on the big day because my eyes will be locked on my gorgeous sweetheart.

Have we found the one?

This is Golden Girl (aka Nicole) coming to you live from Powdered Toast Headquarters with a wedding update for all those interested in the planning. However, before I get to the good details, I must say a few things. First off…for those of you who think I am a heartless person who doesn’t comment on the posts toast man writes about me, it's true I don’t comment, because I am not a fan of blogger. I tell him in person what I think of his posts. The only reason I am writing on this blog now and comment the rare times that I actually do is to make him happy. In a relationship, there must be some give and take…and this is apparently my give.

I guess I will get started now. I would love to tell you all about our latest adventure in wedding planning. We went out to visit this place called Green Tree Country Club in New Rochelle (New York). Actually, we went and saw this other catering place first, which I’m not even gonna talk about because its not worth mentioning. Anyways back to Green Apple…I mean Green Tree. This is the place I want to get married at. When we were in this place, I got butterflies in my stomach. This place is a historical landmark, a beautiful mansion over 100 years old. This very nice, charming old man and his wife bought this place and turned it into a magnificent wedding/event venue. This place has all original stuff…its HUGE! They have their own huge kitchen and bakery. They even have their own $400,000 back up generator that can probably light up the whole city in the event of a power outage….and the food possibilities are endless.

This is a family run place and the man who bought it is so cute. He is an older gentlemen (ask toast man, I love old men) and I think he took a liking to me, or at least did a very good job selling that feeling to me. What I liked about his style was that he took us on a tour first before going over prices and all that jazz. He is definitely a family man because he was showing us pictures of his grandchildren and telling us about his kids. It feels like our every whim would be met here.

We walked out to the ceremony site where we would actually get married, in the gardens, with a beach backdrop. At every other place we looked, I felt that the aisle was too short…I would like a decent walk…not a mile for god sakes, but I don’t wanna rush, take 3 steps and be at the altar either. This place was just right. The ballrooms where the party would be are huge and each are classic and I know we could really rock the house. I’m getting goose pimples thinking about it again.

The only downfall to this place would be the pricing. But compared to everywhere we have seen, this place takes the cake and has the best deals. No ceremony fee or extra gratuity, nor does he except kickbacks from other vendors. What we pay is just the price per plate plus tax and any extra food tables we want that are not included. Its $125 per plate…a lil more then I wanted…I just don’t know if I will find a place that will give me that feeling again. I DON’T WANT TO SETTLE!

Thinking about marrying toast man gives me the best feeling inside. I see myself walking down the aisle to him and becoming Mrs. Powdered Toast Man. I think about it everyday. I cant wait to be a wife and mother. I love you with all my heart and soul, especially when you hold me close like you did at Green Tree by the water. I know no matter what happens or where we end up, walking down the aisle to you will be the happiest moment of my life.

This is Golden Girl signing off from Powdered Toast Headquarters and remember, I shall call him Squishy and he shall be mine.

Vacay: Day 1

I have decided to try and entertain you with my recent trip to Virginia Beach. I am going to have to break up the trip into parts. I think a day-to-day retelling of the events will be best. I really don't know how it's all going to pan out so bear with me. I am going to make it as short and sweet as possible and only tell you the juicy parts. Nicole and I ate out every night so there is definitely going to be an abundant of food reviews. Hopefully I get all the pics that I want to put up, I know how all of you like pictures, if only I could make them pop-up for you. Enough back story, let's get to the meat and potatoes of this thing (mmm potatoes, anyone else hungry?).

Day 1-8: We had a lot of fun. The end. What? Too short? You want more details? Dammit I wasn't prepared for that. Give me a minute to get my thoughts together................. What do I tell you? What do I leave out? Here it goes.

Nicole and I stayed at the Ramada Limited last year when we went to Virginia Beach so we decided to book it again. Last year we had a problem with the micro-fridge, it wasn't in our room like the nice lady on the phone said it would be. Guess what happens this year? Same thing. I call 3 weeks before our trip to make sure that we would have a micro-fridge in our room, the woman on the phone assures me that it will be there. I am not satisfied, I call the hotel again on the way down there and once again someone else tells me that it will be in our room. We get there, go to our room and there is no micro-fridge. We check under the bed, in the shower, on the balcony, nope, screwed again. Pissed off, I go down to the lobby and they tell me that the one we had was broken and had to be removed. The woman offers me a discount. I don't need a discount, I need a micro-fridge (for those of you confused about what a micro-fridge is, it's a mini-fridge with a microwave attached to the top), we have perishables with us (yogurt and cold cuts for the beach). She then tells me that there is only one other room with a micro-fridge but it has two double beds. I tell her to take the fridge out of that room and put it in ours, she complies, all is well, crisis averted. Nothing like starting the trip on a sour note. Luckily that is the only real negative thing that happened on vacation.

Frankly I can't remember what we did until we went out to dinner. I remember taking a short, unsatisfying nap for about 45 minutes. I know what you are thinking, 45 minutes seems like a decent nap but we usually take 2 hour naps so 45 minutes is too short (we spoil ourselves). We go out to dinner to an Italian place called Il Giardino that we fell in love with last year, we liked it so much last year that we went back to back nights. Oh the food is so tasty, describing it to you won't do it justice but I will do it anyway. One of the reasons we went back to VA Beach was because of this restaurant. We were looking forward to dining here again for months. I would mention a dish to Nicole that she got last year and I would need a mop to clean up all the drool on the floor.

We start off our feast with some warm foccacia bread, free with a coupon we found. To further enjoy this exquisite bread, the waiter (Jesse) pours a mix of red pepper and garlic oil on a plate and tops it off with some fresh parmesan cheese. Hold on, I have to wipe some drool off the keyboard. For an appetizer we pounce on some eggplant rotini, just bursting with flavor. Your mom can't make it as good at they can and if she can then send some over to me via UPS. Even the salads we had were to die for, simple yet delicious and displayed rather beautifully on the plate. I'm getting so hungry right now. Now for our entrees, Nicole had the capellini piselli e proscuitto (angel hair, tomato cream sauce, mushrooms, peas, proscuitto ham) and I had the penne al gamberi (penne, shrimp, peas, arribiatta sauce).

My dish was suppose to come with a tomato cream sauce but the waiter had recommended the arribiatta sauce so I had to try it, I like things a little spicy. I wish I was eating these dished right now so I could describe how they taste but it's difficult to put it into words. How about, a masterpiece of flavors. Does that get your mouth salivating? We also got some warm Italian bread to mop up our excess sauce, mmm how I love extra sauce. I'm sure if I was a wine drinker it would of topped the meal off. I believe the bill plus tip came to about $74 but well worth it. I highly recommend this restaurant if you are ever in Virginia Beach. Hell, I recommend a day trip to VA Beach just to go to this place. I would drive 2 hours out of my way for some more foccacia bread. And if you live within 30 miles of this restaurant and you have never been there then shame on you. VA Beach is a 7-8 hour drive for me so I am considering staying the night after my dinner. We were much too full to get dessert but I did have leftovers for the next day, oh how I love restaurant leftovers. The food was amazing but the whole experience is what did it for me. Jesse, our waiter was awesome too. He was very knowledgeable and polite, an all around great guy. This post is dedicated to Jesse the waiter, you earned that tip.

After dinner we pretty much went to sleep. I only got like 3 hours sleep the night before and we were both exhausted from the drive so we hit the hay around 10 pm. My normal bedtime is 7 am because I work overnight so it was actually beneficial that I didn't get a lot of sleep before the trip. I am sure we dreamt of capellini and penne.

Cool obscure fact: 'Dreamt' is the only word in the English Language that ends in 'mt'.

Those were pretty much the events of the first day. More to come.

It Might Be the One

Nicole and I took another trip to take a gander at a place to have our wedding. Nicole has been looking at a website called The Knot, finding banquet halls and hotels to look at. We went to a place called Arbor Ridge about 30 minutes North from where we live. It was very easy to get to, right off the highway.

It turns out the place is run by just one guy. He does everything, he is a one man show. He doesn't do the cooking but he used to cook. Kevin was a very down to earth kind of guy. He was very pleasant and seems like the sort of fellow that is very flexible with what you want.

The main ball room and bar had a nice flow to them. They were spacious and simple. There was a patio off the ball room with a fireplace. There is a hotel right next door in the same parking lot that is owned by the same guy. The best part is that he recently renovated the place. The honeymoon suite was gorgeous, it looks like a 5 star hotel room, giant bathroom and lots of space. I still can't believe how great the room looked.

The silver and gold packages were much lower than what we have seen at the other two places we saw. The price ranges from $89 to $113 per person, a lot better than the $140 from the first place. They also use a great bakery that we are familiar with for the wedding cake and pastries.

The only problems we found were that it didn't have a waterfront view like the last two places and the area where the ceremony would be looks a little small. Other than that we loved this place. I got a good feeling after seeing it. It is on the top of our list now. Everything we see now is going to be compared to Arbor Ridge.

Wedding stuff and kids

Last Thursday, Nicole and I visited another place to possibly have our wedding. It's a castle-like Hotel called Hotel Thayer or The Thayer Hotel (either one works I guess). If you live near the Hudson Valley in New York, you have probably heard of it. It's located in West Point, NY, right on the military base. There are some security check points to go through to enter the premises (ID checks and search of the car). The hotel was built on the side of a mountain so it has a great view. It is made of stone and looks like the Queen might live there. It has a great big lobby and definitely makes you feel insignificant. The ball rooms are big and elegant. Nicole took pictures of the inside with her camera. I wish I was smart enough to think to upload them but I wasn't. Maybe I will do a follow up post with just the pics.

This place also had an amazing view, right on the river. The only issue is only one of the banquet rooms is accessible to the outside lawn where the ceremony would be. The other room would require us to get married inside. I like the idea of getting married outside. The room connected to the outside has a low ceiling compared to the other one that has a nice high ceiling. Things to think about. The woman that was giving us the tour was much more enthusiastic than the woman from the last place. Also the woman from the other place had a cold and she was nasally and annoying. The price per plate was a little cheaper than Beckwithe Point, about $120 a plate. The problem is that Hotel Thayer just changed chefs and they don't know what their menu will look like in 2012, and also the pricing might change. It was a nice place but didn't give us the wow factor. We are still going to look at other venues.

Now a change of subject to something different. I have been thinking about kids more and more lately. I never really thought about having kids that much until I met Nicole and realized I wanted to be with her forever. When I was 20, I thought kids were cute but they didn't make me think about my own future rugrats. Nicole and I were at Mavis the other days getting tires for my tricycle..... I mean, our car. A father came in with his 3 little girls. Two of them were very young, just learning how to talk and making no sense. The other was a little older. These kids were so cute, just eating their Mickey Dees and being happy about nothing. I want some cute kids, dammit. I want to be a father, seems like fun. Can I get them already potty trained? Nicole will have to be on diaper control, I don't like doo-doo. She works in a hospital and cleans up old people so she is more experienced for the job and has better credentials.

I think I will make a great dad. I would tell my kids the truth. If they ask me a question like where do babies come from, I am going to tell them the truth. Where did the stork come from anyway? Has anybody ever actually seen a real stork? I would play with them all the time. I love kids' toys, blocks, cars, books, things with lights and sounds, I'm all over it. You know what I still love? The Highlights magazine that you find at the dentist or doctor's office. I used to read them when I was younger and I still enjoy them. I love to make kids laugh. That is one of the best feelings in the world and it's so easy. Just making a funny face or sound makes them giggle. I love sticking my tongue out at random kids to make them smile. Not in a creepy way. Like if I'm waiting in line and the person is front of me is holding their kid over their shoulder and the kid is looking at me. I'm obligated to entertain them and myself while we are in line. I wanted to play with the kids in Mavis but I thought it might have been creepy so I just asked the little girl if her cookie was tasty. She said something that I couldn't decipher but I understood the big smile. Kids are great and I can't wait to have a bunch with Nicole.

Where Has the Time Gone?

Yesterday (May 5th) marked 2 1/2 years in our relationship. Time has gone by so fast, it doesn't feel like it has been that long. It still feels like we are in the first couple of months of our relationship. We still possess the new relationship feelings and attitude. You know how after dating someone for awhile you kind of lose that spark in your stomach and things get boring or there isn't as much affection anymore? Well that is not the case for Nicole and I. Just the other night I went over to Nicole's after school for an hour before I had to go to work and I was showing her affection like it was within the first month of us dating. I was kissing her with so much passion and fire. One of the reasons is that she looked just so damn cute, I couldn't resist her lips. It sucked that I had to go to work, I could of kissed her all night without even looking for any sex, even though it would of happened on it's own and would have been fantastic.

I love having these random spurts of cute moments, it keeps the relationship nice and fresh. If there was ever a spontaneous time to propose, the other night would have been perfect (those of you who don't know, we are already engaged).

During our late night nap, I had a dream that Nicole was in the ocean with some friends and a big ass wave came crashing down on them. Without even thinking I jumped in the water and saved Nicole because she needed help. I think this dream shows how much I love her.

One of the things that I love is the silliness we can have. I love tickling her, play fighting and just being cute and cuddly. I hope that we never lose these. They are the essence of our relationship. I am getting more and more excited about the wedding and our future. We are slowly making progress with our wedding plans. We have compiled part of our guest list. Nicole has found a few dress styles and invitation ideas that she likes. Next week we are looking at another place to have the wedding. It is a hotel that looks like a giant castle with a great view. I went to a prom there so I know it's nice. I will keep everyone updated with whatever we have in the mix.

Thinking About Our Future

I recently watched Couples Retreat and it made me think about my relationship with Nicole. Seeing the married couples in the film got me pondering our future, only good things mind you, nothing bad. It got me all warm and fuzzy thinking about getting married and having kids. Because of the movie (which I finished at 5 am) a rush of feelings came over me and I texted Nicole 'I love you.' I wish I had watched it with her, it's one of those movies that makes you want to cuddle and be affectionate but it's not a chick flick.

Anytime I watch a movie or tv show with a family I start thinking about my future family. I really want to be a husband and a great dad. I love seeing adorable little kids in movies and shows, it makes me want to have one of my own right away. I have never thought about this stuff in prior relationships and that's one of the reasons I know that Nicole and I are meant to be together. I love these new feelings about marriage and kids. Of course Nicole wants like 16 and I want 3 so there is going to be much discussion on the subject when it comes time to start makin' the babies. I think that I will make a kick-ass dad, I'm still a big kid inside. Put some baby toys in front of me and I will gladly entertain myself. I think I might go play with some Legos after this post, I believe I still have mine from when I was a wee lad.

If you remember from last week's post, Nicole and I checked out our first wedding hall. This place was gorgeous. It was right on the Hudson River. The view is beautiful no matter where you are inside, there are windows surrounding the hall. There is a stone walkway in the water leading to a rock formation where pictures are taken for the wedding. I wish I had some pics to show you. The menu is to die for, so much food!! Anything you can think of, they have it. Their chef has been with them for 22 years and they are renowned for their food. We were so excited about this place until she told us the price per plate. Depending on what month and day the wedding is, the price ranges from $140-$180 a plate. This may be out of our price range. Nicole wasn't as shocked by the price like I was (mostly because I'm cheap). They have food tasting every 6-8 weeks so we are going to hit that up. We can bring 6 people total and the food is free and we get to meet the vendors. I love free food. This place might be too good to be true but it is only the first place we have looked at and we are in no rush to make any decisions. I bet house hunting is going to be similar to this.

I want to end on a good note. The other night we had another 'sleep kissing' episode. It was another deep and passionate kiss like the last time except for that it felt like a 'first kiss' kiss. In my half daze I mumbled something about a first kiss, I was probably still dreaming. It was definitely another memorable kiss and I hope this becomes a trend in our future slumber.

A Kiss to Remember

First I want to update everyone on my wedding plans. As you may know the date is set for October, 20 2012 (you may or may not be invited, talk to Nicole). We have an appointment to go check out a banquet hall for our wedding reception. It's called Beckwithe Pointe located in New Rochelle, NY. It's right on the Hudson River so the view is really beautiful (from what I can see from the wedding pics on their website). I'm very excited, this is one of our first big steps in the whole wedding planning scenario besides setting the date. I will keep everyone up to date if this place seems like a good option.

Next I want to present you with a phenomenon I like to call 'sleep kissing.' It has happened on numerous occasions between Nicole and I. We will both be fast asleep and then out of nowhere I wake up and start kissing her like we planned it or something. Then like it never happened we both stop and fall back to sleep. It's kind of like sleepwalking but nobody gets hurt and it's sort of romantic. After we wake up, I kind of remember it happening but it happens so fast that it almost seems like part of my dream.

This past week we had the most vivid sleep kissing episode. It was so passionate and romantic that I wish we knew what we were doing so we could of kept kissing for awhile and let things go where they might. It was definitely a memorable kissing moment. I am going to keep that memory just in the back of my mind so when I'm feeling down I can reach back for it to cheer me up. I wish we had more sleep kissing episodes like the one we had this week. I hope the next step is sleep sex.

We have been together for nearly 2 1/2 years (we will hit that mark on May 5th) and our relationship always feels new and fresh. We haven't gotten bored of each other. I still feel like it's the beginning of the relationship. I am going to stop here, I want to continue this in another post in the near future. I have a lot to say on this subject and I don't want to just squeeze it in here at the end of this one.

A Smile Goes A Long Way

The other night Nicole left my house around 2:30 am and after our goodnight kiss she gave me this great big smile (one of her best features). This particular smile made me light up inside, put a big smile on my face and I thought to myself, 'we have a great relationship.'I love when I have moments like these especially since it was from such a simple thing like a smile. I had to tell her right away what her smile did to me and also because I knew it would make her get that feeling as well. I can't search for these events, they just happen on their own at random times.

As I am typing this I am thinking back to another post I wrote about a great kiss we had outside of Subway. I am reliving that kiss right now and it feels good. I wish Nicole was next to me right now so I can give her a nice, big passionate kiss to express myself. It is definitely the little things that count in a relationship. I will remember moments like these and not even recollect the stupid fights we have had, they don't even matter.

Just yesterday at school she did something that was surprising and cute. She stopped by school on her way somewhere and met up with me in the parking lot to say hi and to give me a kiss. I didn't know she was coming and it was very cute what she did, I loved it. If only she had brought me a sandwich too, I'm just joking of course. I love the little things like that in our relationship. Can you remember the little things? Do they put a smile on your face? They do for me.

Nicole is the best and I am so excited about our future together. I can't wait to start a family with her and be a father to our rugrats. Nicole, thanks for everything you do. I love you.

Anyone busy 10/20/2012?

I have been making a mistake that nobody has picked up on. I guess no English majors read my blog. I have been using 'fiance' instead of 'fiancee' when talking about Nicole. 'Fiance' refers to the man while 'fiancee' refers to the woman. I had it backwards this whole time, boy is my face red. Okay, enough sarcasm, on to the exciting news.

After 5 months of being engaged, Nicole and I finally set a date for the wedding! We decided on October 20, 2012. That's a Saturday if anyone was wondering. So don't make plans for that date, who knows who will be invited. Has anybody ever invited fellow bloggers to attend their wedding? There is always a first for everything. Nicole, if you are reading this, I am not serious. I am not inviting strangers to our wedding no matter how cool their blogs or comments are. Sorry for the let down folks.

One of the reasons we set it 2 1/2 years in the future is we wanted to wait until one of us was out of school or somewhat close. The way school is going for both of us, it's a mystery to when we will finish.

Over 900 days and counting to the big day. I'm so excited! Hurrah!!

It's the little things that count

It's so refreshing being in a great relationship. There are always little surprises along the way that brightens my day. The other day I was stuck writing this ridiculous English essay on relativity in poetry. It was a doozy, to say the least. I spent like 4 days working on it and came up with some major cow dung. That's a whole other story. I was so busy with my essay that all I had to eat that day was a bowl of Toucan Sam Rings (Froot Loops if you want to be specific). After I finished my essay I had to rush off to class for 3 hours and immediately after go to work for 8. I did pack some snacks for work but nothing nutritious or of substance, just some Cheetos and crackers.

After class was over I decided I was going to stop quick at Dunkin' Donuts for a muffin. When I opened the door to the car there was a bag with a note on it from Nicole (my fiance). She had made me this delicious steak and cheese wrap with peppers, onions, lettuce and bbq sauce. Mmmm, just typing the words makes me want another one. There was also a water bottle, yogurt and a bag of banana nut cereal which I mixed together (not the water), it was very tasty. She definitely made that wrap with love. I was soooooo hungry by the time I got to eat it at work. I did have a test taste right before I got to work and that was all I was looking forward to before first break, I couldn't wait until lunch to eat it.

I love when she surprises me with things like that. Usually when she is coming over and I tell her I could go for some Subway or an iced tea, she gets it for me and brings it over. She is so sweet and caring. No wonder I proposed to her. Nicole, if you are reading this, thank you. Kiss.

House Hunting

My new favorite show to watch is 'House Hunters' on the Home and Garden channel (HGTV). The show has a very basic premise, either a couple or a single person is looking for a house, apartment, or condo to purchase and move into. The buyers usually look at a lot of homes before making their final decision but HGTV only shows you the 3 best selections.

The reason I like this show is because I picture buying my first house with my fiance Nicole. Hopefully, by that time it will by Mrs. Scully. Right now we are still both living at home trying to find a way to live together. The problem is I don't have a good paying job for us to afford an apartment so we are stuck in limbo for the time being. We have been engaged for 4 months already and I all I want is to be able to come home from work or school and be with her at our own place. Preferably to some dinner.

I did move out at one point but it was with the wrong person, things didn't work out and I had to move back home for financial reasons. It has been over 2 years since I moved back home and it's time to leave again, with Nicole at my side of course. One of the things I hate the most about not living together is falling asleep together at night just to wake up in an hour or two to go home. I can't wait til the time when we can fall asleep together in our own bed and wake up together in our own bed.

Watching 'House Hunters' gets me excited about our future but it also makes me kind of sad because I can't have that just yet. I would love to be able to buy a house instead of moving into an apartment, it's definitely more cost efficient but that takes time and saving. We need to get an apartment first just so we can get out of our parents' houses and start our future.

My ultimate goal is to make Nicole happy. To be able to provide for her, support her and give her the life she wants. I would do anything to be able to get a place with her right now. We already bought some dishes, glasses and towels for the place we don't have yet. I can just imagine the look in her eyes when I can make our dreams come true.

This stupid recession is putting a damper on our plans. Damn you George Bush!!

Accidental Masterpiece

I'm finally back, no thanks to this white stuff. No, not cocaine, the other white stuff, snow. If you are living on the west coast or a cave, the Northeast was hit with 3 days of snow, sleet and rain. It dumped about 2 feet on us, maybe more or less depending on where you live. NYC had a record month of snow for February, 37 inches, beating the old record of 30 inches back in 1895.

The snow storm didn't knock out my power at first. It first knocked out my phone line and if you have been following my blog you would know that this is a big problem because my house is still living in the dark ages with a dial-up connection. So I could not post anything on Friday or Saturday like I wanted to. We got the phone line back but then the power decided to go out, I was already at Nicole's house so I didn't care that much. It finally came back on around 1:30 am on Sunday.

I do love the snow but not when it takes blogging and anything to do with electricity away from me. Okay enough complaining about the snow. Let's get to the fun stuff.

Nicole and I decided to go sledding at her old elementary school. We thought we would have to deal with some whiny nose kids but it was a ghost town. Unfortunately the sled I have sucks major ass. The bottom of it is shaped like a snow mobile, not flat on the bottom but with rails. It doesn't slide down the hill, it kind of burrows underground. I don't know about you but that is not what I look for in a sled. Since the sledding was a bust I decided to try to make a snow man. I started rolling a snowball down the hill so it would accumulate snow and turn into a bigger ball for the bottom of the snow man but it turned into a giant snow wheel instead.

I flipped it over and layed the snow wheel on it's side to create something, I wasn't sure what at the time. I made another smaller snow wheel and place it face up on the other wheel to create a snow chair. Snow is so much easier to mold and shape than clay. After adding more snow and smoothing it out I realized that it looked more like a toilet than a chair. Nicole and I then got to work on making it look more like a toilet. We rounded the front and bottom, made the back more square, we even dug out a hole in the seat and Nicole made a handle. It looked awesome, I wish I had some pics to show you but we both didn't have our phones on us and they probably wouldn't of come out so good with an all white background.

To make it look more like a toilet I decided to add a little yellow dye inside the bowl if you know what I mean. I got some on the seat for good measure. It was a very proud moment, I had never made a snow toilet before today....err yesterday. I just would like to see somebody's reaction when they find this thing randomly behind the school. "Is that a toilet made out of snow?" Priceless!! I have to add a little review by saying that this snow is the best packing snow I have ever laid my hands on. It packs up nice and tight and is great for snowballs or making snow toilets, whatever you're into.

Next time I will make a hot tub and a sink.

Light Bulb!!

I don't know why I didn't think of this before. I should start reviewing restaurants that I dine at. My two favorite hobbies are movies and eating/food. I have missed so many opportunities with all the times I've eaten out over the past 8 months. I am very disappointed in myself to say the least. I definitely need more reviews-you-can't-use on this here blog. This post will be my first review of a restaurant. I will try and put a different spin on things, because that's what I'm about.

Nicole (my fiance) and I ventured off to The Cheesecake Factory for a late lunch, early dinner combo, it was around 4 o'clock. If you are not familiar with The Cheesecake Factory it is an eating establishment known for their famous french fries and root beer. Actually I'm lying, if you can't figure out what they are famous for then you need more help than our economy.

I want to say that it was my 3rd time eating there but I might be off by one. First I want to tell you what I don't like about this place and probably the only thing. The tables are a little too close together. It feels like I'm eating lunch at my High School cafeteria. When we were first seated we were stuck between two other tables with guests already dining. I immediately asked if we could have a more private table. The waiter said sure, there is one in the other room. It was more private, instead of being between two other parties, we had one table to one side and a half a wall to our other. You win some and you lose some. Luckily the people sitting beside us weren't loud and obnoxious. The only thing odd about them is that they didn't order any dessert, how can you go to a restaurant known for famous desserts and not get any? Boggles my mind. That's a fun game: boggle, ever play?

Nicole had the carbonara and I had the bang-bang chicken and shrimp. Both entrees get 2 thumbs up for tastiness and presentation. The dinner is good but the cheesecake is why I go here. The past 2 times I got chocolate chip cookie dough and peanut butter cheesecake which were both very rich and flavorful. This time I went with something simple, I got the original cheesecake with strawberries. Mmmmmmmmmmmmm!! So smooth and creamy you want to savor every last bite. It gives your taste buds an orgasm. I brought the leftovers home, of course, what else would I do with them? Give them to a homeless guy? Let him get his own cheesecake. I had a few bites about a half hour ago (by the way it's 4:30 in the morning) and I think it tasted even better.

If you live somewhere that doesn't have a Cheesecake Factory then I strongly urge you to move or visit a friend that lives near one. If you live near a Cheesecake Factory and you have never been then shame on you. What the hell are you waiting for? Dinner for 2 with appetizer and 2 cheesecakes cost $57 plus tip. If you were wondering, Nicole got the white chocolate macadamia nut with caramel cheesecake or some arrangement of those words.

Wow, this post was a lot longer than anticipated. I will try and trim it down next time. I hope this review wasn't helpful.

Goin' Foreign

I potentially have a lot to write about in this post but for your sake I will try to keep it short and to the point. Recently I got a new car, wait.....correction, my fiance and I got a new car. She is helping me finance it because she is good like that and she doesn't want me to get another piece of crap.

The new car we got is a 2007 Nissan Altima 3.5L V6 SE but before I tell you about the new whip I want to enlighten you about my old ride, a 2001 Chevy Monte Carlo LS. It was definitely a sexy looking car and was fully loaded; heated leather seats, sun roof, traction control, ABS, and On Star. It was pretty good on gas for a big ass car and was great in the snow. Unfortunately after a year of owning this beast things started to go wrong like they usually do for General Motors' vehicles. The engine started to get noisy and I had a slight valve tap that got louder as the months rolled on. I also had to replace an O2 sensor, EGR valve and catalytic converter. Then my heat wasn't working so I figured it was the thermostat, turned out to be a leaky head gasket. Right there I decided to stop driving it before I did any more damage.

So after being car-less for a few weeks, Nicole and I went car shopping. I knew I wanted a used Altima with low mileage and that's exactly what we got. I test drove the V6 and the 4 cylinder models and found that the V6 was a lot smoother. We have had this puppy for about 2 weeks now and I love it. It drives nice and smooth, a lot lighter than the Monte Carlo and more powerful as well. The Monte was a little underpowered for it's size.

What's sweet about the newer Nissan's is the keyless entry and push button start, no more juggling those keys. This baby is quick too, I'm passing people on the highway in a flash. It's not fully loaded like the Monte Carlo was but I'll take reliability and a 5 year/100,000 mile warranty over leather seats any day. This Altima is certified so it drives like its brand new even with 45,000 miles on it.

I just drove it home tonight in the snow and it feels like it's all wheel drive, I didn't slip at all. Even when I tried to fish tail the traction control wouldn't let me. This car has an automatic transmission but has the manual shifting option if you want to shift for fun, I used this to downshift down the hills and bends in the snow.

I wouldn't even be driving this car if it wasn't for my beautiful and caring fiance Nicole. She is way too good to me. It's comforting having someone there to support you when you need it most. Nicole, if you are reading this, Thank you for all your help.

I don't have anything negative to say about the Altima at this time and hopefully I won't have to. This is my first foreign car, I have had all Chevy's up to this point but that is for another post, this one is long enough. If you didn't realize it, this post was a review of the Altima and the first non-movie review. At least I think it is, I can't keep track of what I write anymore.

Great "first kiss"

I'm going to change things up today and share my feelings instead of being sarcastic. It's a rare event so you might want to soak it all in. This post is going to mainly be about my fiance Nicole, well because she deserves it for putting up with me. Okay on to the serious stuff.

As you may already know (if you follow my blog) Nicole and I are recently engaged, a month to be exact and things have never been better. Giving her that ring has brought out all my feelings and emotions. I have been more loving, affectionate and well, girly in a matter of speaking. I am always thinking about the future with her which puts a big smile on my face. I can definitely see myself growing old with her.

The main catalyst for this blog post is a kiss we had the other day. It was a goodbye kiss we had in the parking lot after having some subway before I left for school. It was one of those amazing first kiss type kisses where you really connect with the person on an emotional level. We kiss a lot but this one was different, it stayed on my mind for the next few hours. It was very passionate and deep and I hated that I had to leave for school. It was a kiss that would of turned into some great love making (especially for conception.)

I love kissing Nicole, sometimes it's better than sex, yeah I said it. And I'm not talking about making out because that's what horny teenagers do. I'm talking about passionate kissing that lasts so long that your mouth is all dried out. I find the best kissing comes when you know there isn't going to be any sex. When sex is involves the kissing tends to get cut short and other parts get touched instead. However sometimes the best kissing comes during really great sex. I guess it's one of those in the moment type situations.

You know how you get a craving for food, well I get cravings to kiss Nicole. A lot of times I will be on my way to see her thinking about kissing her hello and I will get all excited and anxious. Very often I will just turn to her and plant a big one on her lips and she will say "what was that for?" I had to satisfy my craving. I love her very much and we are very happy together. I can't wait to be her husband!!
