Shoe laces for sure. Stuff stuck on your shoe is like the whole princess and the pea story. You can always feel it and you don't really want to eat it.....but you do anyways!
I'd rather always have a shoelace come untied everyday, because I always do, except when I wear Velcro. So I never wear laced shoes. I always wear Velcro, in which case I never have a shoelace come undone. Um, what was your question?
The shoelace for sure! I cannot stand having anything gum, rock in the tread, etc on the bottom of my shoe. Permanent gum would be throwing shoes away period.

My shoelaces are kind of untied a lot so I'll just say that. I've lived with shoes that are never tied before.
Gum would drive me crazy - I'll go for untied laces.
